Volume 1 features native American traditions of North America, including Inuit drum dances, Canadian Haida totem pole ceremony and potlatch and songs and dances of the Kwakiutl; also included are numerous Nez Perce ceremonial and memorial songs, war dance, and soup dance songs; a Flathead hoop dance; Yakima women's songs, a Shoshone hoop dance and war dance.
Volume 2 includes Mexican ranch songs, and hat dance; Cuban folk songs, dialogue songs; from Brazil comes a voodoo gathering, samba, Capoeira, and Candomble, a religious observance; Bolivian folk songs and modern folk songs; Argentinian tangos and gaucho songs.
A 70-page book completes this music and dance picture of traditions from the Americas, and includes descriptions of each performance.
