This supremely beautiful CD presents world-premier recordings of the two surviving masses attributed to Johannes Regis, a composer of whom very little is known, yet who was obviously very highly regarded in his time. Combining the rhythmic energy characteristic of the early 15th century with the lyrical imitative counterpoint coming into vogue in the years after 1450, these must be counted among the most engaging works of the period.
