Then its off to France, for a listen to two secular cantatas as they may have been heard at Versailles, by composers Clerambault & Stuck [pro: Shtook] performed by Bass Baritone John Ostendorf and mezzo soprano D'Anna Fortunato with the Brewer Baroque Ensemble. Particular attention is paid to the unique aspects of the French baroque style in ornemantation and phrasing and to the allegorical, dramatic texts of these works.
